Luksic Foundation and Oxford University carry out program for the application of Case Methodology in the teaching of Public Policy in Chile
More than 35 academics participated in the second version of this initiative organized by the Blavatnik School of Government of the University of Oxford, in collaboration with the Luksic Foundation, aimed at strengthening practical skills for the training of future public policy implementers.
Academics from more than 20 Chilean universities from eight regions of the country participated in a public policy training program taught by academics from the Blavatnik School of Government at Oxford University. “With programs like this we seek to contribute to the development of academics across the country who train future leaders and agents of change in public policy, bringing Chile closer to cutting-edge international methodologies,” explained Trinidad García, director of International Training at the Luksic Foundation.
Diego del Barrio, dean of the Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences at Valparaiso University, said that the program “serves to remind us how knowledge is exposed everywhere, but what is missing is how to put it into practice”. He assured that the method presented serves to teach students to do “analytical work to make decisions”.
“The contents are real cases with a bit of fiction, chosen so that we can then implement them in classes with our students,” described Pamela Santibáñez, an academic at the Universidad de Magallanes and Director of Innovation.
The first edition of this program was held in 2024, and with the implementation of this second version, the program has had the participation of more than 70 academics from Chilean higher education institutions. This initiative is part of a long-term collaboration between the Blavatnik School of Government at the University of Oxford and Fundación Luksic, which began in 2014 through a scholarship program for the Master’s in Public Policy at the University of Oxford.
