Aspiraciones Sobre el Futuro: Distribution of Information Sets Begins for Over 60,000 Senior Technical High School Students

In July, students from 588 technical high schools across Chile will receive personalized sets containing useful information for the higher education admissions process. Participating schools will also receive a report with recommendations to encourage their students to continue their studies.

“Going to university means pride for me. I would be the first to achieve this goal,” says Millaray, a senior student at Liceo Polivalente Los Guindos in Buin. The student, who dreams of studying Gastronomy, is one of the more than 60,000 students across the country participating in Aspiraciones Sobre el Futuro in 2024.

The Luksic Foundation’s program aims to promote the continuation of studies for senior technical high school students by providing them with clear and useful information to help them make the best decisions for their future, especially regarding the higher education admissions process.

This year, 64% of the country’s technical high schools are participating in the program. In July, personalized information sets are being delivered to senior students from the 588 schools.

The sets include a calendar with key dates for the process, guidance on choosing higher education institutions, and how to apply for student benefits. Additionally, each set includes a personalized report with specific information on the employability and income of the careers each student marked as their preference in the survey conducted by the program earlier this year.

Schools, in turn, will receive a physical and digital report with the main results of the survey and general recommendations on how to support students at the end of their school stage. The goal is for this report to be a tool that allows the school to make evidence-based decisions.

“Aspiraciones Sobre el Futuro has been a very enriching experience for our students and for us as a school. The program helps young people broaden their vision and consider that education does not end in high school,” said Isaías Hernández, head of the department at Liceo Polivalente Los Guindos in Buin, a school that has participated in the program for the past four years.

Nancy Pizarro, interim director of the Education area at Fundación Luksic, highlighted that “we have seen a growing interest from teaching and management teams in enhancing the trajectories of senior technical high school students. We believe that the information provided by Aspirations for the Future not only helps students make informed decisions but also helps schools support and guide them in this process.”
