This initiative is part of the competitive grant program FIE by the Luksic Foundation, which funds projects originating from the educational communities themselves, aiming to broaden the motivations and expectations of students in technical and vocational high school education.

From Concepción’s Carriel Sur Airport, 23 students from the second and third year of Cañete’s Polytechnic High School, along with their teachers, boarded a flight to the Metropolitan Region to engage in various pedagogical experiences within the framework of the Strengthening Educational Initiatives (FIE) competitive grant program of the Luksic Foundation.

Diego Véjar, the project manager of Cañete’s Polytechnic High School, stated that the “Raise Your Expectations” initiative aims to “provide a meaningful experience in the lives of high school students, through an educational journey that enhances the paths and leadership of young people.”

Furthermore, he explained that the students were selected “not necessarily based on their grades, but we considered their motivation, leadership qualities within their communities, and the commitment of parents and guardians to the education of the young.”

During their stay in the capital, the students and teachers visited TVN studios, the Sky Costanera, and Santiago’s Metropolitan Park. They also had discussions with higher education students at the San Joaquín Campus of the Catholic University and interacted with students from the Sofofa Network of High Schools, among other activities.

Lastly, Véjar mentioned that “these meaningful experiences inspire the entire school community to look beyond their usual context, making the most of the opportunities in their surroundings.”
