According to the GEM National Report (2022), the area concentrates 23% of people seeking to start a business. Since 2018, Fundación Luksic has supported more than 10 thousand entrepreneurs across the country and 200 of them belong to the region of one of the driest deserts in the world.

According to data published in the GEM National Report (2022), the Tarapacá Region is the one with the highest number of nascent entrepreneurs, that is, 23% of the national total of entrepreneurs are in the process of creating or starting to operate their own businesses.

Entrepreneurs are characterized by their impetus, talent, perseverance and being the drivers of the country’s economy. For this reason, since 2018, Fundación Luksic, has comprehensively supported more than 10 thousand entrepreneurs throughout Chile, where more than 200 belong to the Tarapacá Region.

During this year, the Foundation’s Entrepreneurship area, with the aim of promoting regional entrepreneurship and maintaining permanent contact with the beneficiaries of its programs Impulso Inicial, Impulso Chileno and Despega Mujer, will be holding meetings in different regions of the country to encourage the entrepreneurial community to generate networks and share experiences and challenges about their businesses.

On Wednesday, August 23, the second meeting of entrepreneurs was held at the Inacap headquarters in Iquique, where entrepreneurs from the area supported by Fundación Luksic were invited.

The entrepreneurs received a technical talk given by Alexis Celis, director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Inacap and member of the Luksic Scholars network, and Katherine Urrejola, professor at the same institution. On the other hand, they participated in a round of presentations and developed activities on challenging topics.

Cristián Schalper, director of the Entrepreneurship area of the Foundation, said: “We are convinced that fostering a community allows us to generate a network of emotional and motivational support, collaboration, learning and development among entrepreneurs. We want our support and connection with you to last and persist over time, so that once a program ends, we can continue to support you in your development and growth”.

Luis Astorga, winner of the second version of the Impulso Chileno contest with his business Agrícola Tamarugal, commented that “it is very good that these opportunities are generated. On the one hand, to meet all the entrepreneurs in the region who have participated in the different programs of the Foundation, to know what they do and how they have grown and advanced thanks to the support”.
