This includes 500 boxes of food and 500 boxes of cleaning supplies. The donation was coordinated directly with the respective municipalities based on the main needs of the families in the area following the heavy rains and floods of recent days.

A truck bound for the communes of Arauco, Lota, and Hualqui arrived this morning with 1,000 boxes of essential food and cleaning supplies donated by the Luksic Foundation to the families affected by the floods.

Current estimates for the Biobío Region, the hardest-hit area by the emergency, indicate more than 10,000 people affected, with 5,000 of them from the commune of Arauco. The food boxes contain about 20 essential items such as flour, rice, tuna, and oil, while the cleaning kits include gel bleach, cleaning gloves, and mops, considering the complex sanitary risk that various areas are facing after the rains.

“After an on-site survey with the respective municipalities, we were able to identify the main needs of the families and those who require the most support. At the Luksic Foundation, we are at the service of Chile, especially in times of greatest need. Our commitment is to provide relevant and efficient assistance, hoping to bring relief to the families who are going through a difficult time today,” commented Isabella Luksic, General Manager of the Luksic Foundation.

In addition to this contribution, a few days ago the Foundation delivered emergency clothing kits to the municipalities of Arauco and Hualqui so that municipal teams can carry out their work in the field safely. The kits include a waterproof parka and overalls with technical properties, high-visibility fabric, reflective bands; a pair of steel-toe boots with reinforced heels, toes, and ankles, and a non-slip, flexible sole.

“I would like to express our sincerest gratitude for the generous donation that benefits the families of our commune. Amid difficulties, your support and generous embrace give us hope,” said the Mayor of Arauco, Elizabeth Marican, regarding the donation.

For his part, Jorge Constanzo, Mayor of Hualqui, stated: “Undoubtedly, this type of support directly benefits them, and it lightens our burden, allowing us to allocate resources to other services required due to the emergency. We highlight the social work carried out by the Foundation because they have been in contact and attentive to our needs from the very beginning, and we are immensely grateful for their efforts.”

The Mayor of Lota, Patricio Marchant, also commented on the support. “Our commune has many needs, especially after the intense rains, and this is a concrete response from the Foundation and the coordination carried out by our municipal team. This aid undoubtedly brings relief to many families who are suffering today. We hope they continue to serve and develop the country,” said the mayor.
