REYES DE BARRIO PROGRAM CONDUCTS SUMMER SCHOOL IN 15 MUNICIPALITIES OF THE METROPOLITAN REGION

21 •  jan •  2022

Until next Monday, January 31, the Reyes de Barrio courts will be open for boys and girls between 7 and 13 years old to take part in free training sessions in the Metropolitan Region.

With the objective of promoting a healthy lifestyle through sports, Reyes de Barrios is born, an initiative of the Luksic Foundation that develops free soccer schools for children and adolescents in the Metropolitan Region.

To continue encouraging physical activity, Reyes de Barrios opened its “Summer School” in January, where boys and girls can participate, without the need to be enrolled. Those who are not regular students of the program, must complete a form, available at https://bit.ly/3Ik1hLT and go to the closest court to their commune of residence, either El Bosque, Estación Central, Independencia, La Florida, La Pintana, La Reina, Lo Prado, Peñalolén, Pudahuel, Puente Alto, Renca, Cerro Navia or San Miguel.

“Because we are convinced of the positive effects that sport and physical activity have on children, we are happy to be able to open the doors of Reyes de Barrio to more students during the summer season, so that they can live the experience of going to the field, meet new friends and above all, motivate them to incorporate sport into their daily lives”, said Álvaro Ipinza, general manager of Fundación Luksic.

Due to the current sanitary protocol, each player must respect the following measures to protect themselves from Covid-19: use a mask when arriving at training, carry their own bottle of water and personal towel, clean their hands and feet when entering, and also keep a social distance when entering the premises.

Training 2022

More than 650 students between the ages of 7 and 13 participated during 2021 in the on-site training sessions, which took place in 13 municipalities in the Metropolitan Region.

Each week, the players shared with their peers, and the teachers taught them soccer techniques and transmitted values such as companionship, solidarity, commitment and responsibility.

In March of this year, a new season of Reyes de Barrios will begin, where boys and girls from the Metropolitan Region will be able to attend the fields twice a week and enjoy this sport.

For the application process, a responsible adult must complete this form. The applications will be evaluated by the program team, who will notify those selected.

Among the requirements are to be born between 2010 and 2013, reside in the commune where the student is applying and be enrolled in a free school.
