El Diario de Atacama highlighted the 40-year-old entrepreneur who decided to pursue one of her dreams and will study the Technical Analyst Programmer career at Inacap.

This year, Clara Escobar decided to pursue one of her dreams and enroll in the Analyst Programmer program at INACAP. This month, she received the news that she is one of the 100 selected for the Luksic More Women in STEM Scholarship, which will provide $150,000 monthly for discretionary use to female students in higher technical STEM careers.

“A debt and a pending goal with herself.” That was the motivation for Clara Escobar to decide to return to studying a technical career at the age of 40. She always had the dream of finishing her studies, but balancing it with caring for her children and the lack of resources made it very difficult for her. “There was always that thorn that I couldn’t continue studying and I like to know everything, I love the world of programming, knowing how to handle my computer, fixing it, knowing software and hardware systems,” Escobar says.

To generate income and have time for her children, during the pandemic she started a small makeup and jewelry store, which has allowed her to become known among the neighbors of Tierra Amarilla and to save money. That’s how this year she set out to fulfill one of her dreams and enroll in the Programmer Analyst program at INACAP.

In search of support, she investigated benefits she could access. Through the institute, she learned about the new Luksic More Women in STEM Scholarship, which will provide $150,000 monthly for discretionary use to 100 women from all over Chile, studying technical careers related to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Among her expectations is to improve her knowledge and therefore aim for a better job. Additionally, she has the possibility of continuing her studies to obtain a degree in Digital Marketing Engineering, which makes her very happy and excited.

A few weeks ago, the excitement was even greater when she received an email from the Foundation indicating that she was among the 100 selected. “This scholarship comes as a surprise, it’s a dream. I was thinking of postponing it but this support gives me even more strength to continue.

I have my whole family very happy supporting me, so I will make every effort, I will be diligent, and I will continue to get good grades, because so far we are doing well,” Escobar says with laughter.

The student is the only winner from the commune of Tierra Amarilla and one of the 3 selected from the Atacama Region.
