The new center will benefit over 7,000 patients from Paso Hondo and surrounding areas. Reconstruction is expected to be completed within four months, allowing the residents of Santa Juana to once again have access to basic healthcare services.

Following the severe fires that affected the central-southern region of our country, the Luksic Foundation and Levantemos Chile Challenge announced the reconstruction of the Rural Medical Facility (EMR) in Paso Hondo, in the commune of Santa Juana, one of the areas most affected by the catastrophe earlier this year.

In light of this situation, both foundations formed an alliance to aid this commune and provide the necessary funds for the reconstruction of the EMR. The objective of this action is to deliver a new and modern facility to this rural community, built to the highest construction and quality standards.

“At the Luksic Foundation, we want to contribute to the recovery of the commune of Santa Juana. We are proud to work in coordination with the Municipality and Levantemos Chile Challenge to rebuild the Rural Medical Facility, which will serve over 7,000 patients and will be a vital place for the Paso Hondo community and its surroundings. It is in the face of such emergencies that collaboration is essential, as we must work together to support the affected individuals and families,” commented Isabella Luksic, General Manager of the Luksic Foundation.

The reconstruction, with an investment of over 250 million pesos, will benefit over 7,000 patients within one year. It is expected that the new center will be ready within four months, allowing the residents of Santa Juana to regain access to basic healthcare services, focusing on activities such as health check-ups for chronic patients, child and gynecological care, dental care, medication delivery, PNAC and PACAM services, immunizations, and other medical services.

Ana Albornoz, the Mayor of Santa Juana, stated, “This is an example of public-private cooperation and how foundations can seek resources to rebuild the lives and dreams of our neighbors. The Luksic Foundation and Levantemos Chile Challenge demonstrate that the private sector can also take responsibility for community projects, ensuring that our community has access to healthcare. They serve as a management example for the Biobío region and our country”.

In addition, Ignacio Serrano, Executive Director of Levantemos Chile Challenge, affirmed, “We are very pleased to announce the construction of the Rural Medical Station in Paso Hondo, Santa Juana. The health of the residents cannot wait, and today, thanks to the Luksic Foundation, we will fulfill our commitment to deliver a high-standard facility that will provide the necessary care for thousands of people in record time.”
