Isabella Luksic steps down as general manager of the Luksic Foundation and the board appoints Macarena Cea as her replacement.

  • After more than five years working at her family’s main philanthropic institution, and almost three at the head of the executive team, Isabella Luksic is leaving her position to take on new personal and academic challenges. She will continue as an advisor to the Board of Directors and in January will formally join the Board as Vice President.
  • A sociologist and Master in Sociology from the UC, with experience in the public and academic sectors, Macarena Cea arrived in 2020 to serve as Director of Evaluation and later of Development, and has been key in the transformation of the Foundation during that period.

After more than five years dedicated entirely to the Luksic Foundation, Isabella Luksic decided to resign from the general management of the institution to take on new personal and academic challenges. The sociologist will leave her post on August 31, but will continue to be linked to the Foundation as an advisor to the Board of Directors until January 1, when she will formally join the Board as a full member and vice-president. She will also continue to represent the Foundation internationally.

Isabella assumed the general management of the main philanthropic arm of her family in January 2023, promoting a professional and rigorous work that has its users at the center and that generates an effective transformation in people’s lives. The organization evaluates and measures the impact of its actions with rigor, flexibility and openness to change, in order to reach people in the most direct, innovative and efficient way, just as in a company.

“It has been a very challenging and entertaining few years, of great transformation in our social investment, where we have been able to reach people throughout Chile with quality programs. I want to thank all those who have trusted us, our commitment as a family remains firm to contribute to the development of Chile and I am sure that with the great team we have we can continue on this path,” said Isabella Luksic.

She will be replaced by Macarena Cea, current Director of Development, who joined the organization in 2020 in charge of the Evaluation area. Together with Isabella, she has led the transformation process of the Foundation, ensuring the delivery of quality services and sustained growth, always maintaining a close connection with the field and co-creating solutions with people.

“We are convinced that Macarena is the person to lead the next stage of the Foundation; she has proven capabilities and experience in transformation processes, inspired by good service to people. We have great dreams and challenges to support Chileans, which I have no doubt she will know how to achieve”, commented the president of the board of directors, Ena von Baer.

Macarena Cea (41) is a sociologist and holds a master’s degree in sociology from the Pontificia Universidad Católica. She worked at the Institute of Sociology and was deputy director of Applied Research at the Center for Public Policy. With extensive experience in the public sector, she was, among other positions, executive coordinator of the Center for Studies of the Ministry of Education, and head of advisors of the Undersecretariat of Social Services of the Ministry of Social Development, where she led teams that took forward the creation or reformulation of programs such as the Ethical Family Income and the Municipal One-Stop Shop.

“I am excited and moved by the idea of starting a new stage with the challenge of reaching more people, making an effective and quality social investment. I am aware of the genuine interest of the Luksic family to do things well, to demand the maximum, with professionalism and a lot of love for Chile. I feel identified with that purpose and it is with that same passion that I take on this challenge”, said the new general manager and thanked Isabella Luksic and the Board of Directors for their trust.
