Closing of the third edition of the course “Design and Evaluation of CSO Initiatives”.

Nearly 30 professionals from civil society organizations completed the course given by the Luksic Foundation, CLEAR LAC and the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, which seeks to strengthen monitoring and evaluation as key tools to generate more impact and trust in the communities.

Monitoring and evaluation are fundamental in civil society organizations (CSOs), as they allow strengthening social programs, accountability and better solutions for people. To this end, the Luksic Foundation, CLEAR LAC and the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile held for the third consecutive year the course “Design and evaluation of CSO initiatives”, in which nearly 30 professionals from different institutions in the country participated.

With a practical approach, the training provided tools applicable to the daily work of the participants. During the closing day, held on Thursday, September 4, learning and experiences were shared, as well as real cases presented by Fundación Chile and Conecta Mayor UC, whose programs were analyzed in class. Also, former students such as Catalina Justiniano, from Fundación Olivo, and Nicolás Sanhueza told how they have applied what they have learned in their projects, highlighting the results that this has had in the management of their initiatives.

The general manager of the Luksic Foundation, Macarena Cea Martínez, stressed the importance of evaluation in social work: “We hope that what we have learned in this course will have a positive impact on your organizations, as it has had a positive impact on ours, and that the trust of the people we serve will be consolidated, because when we are effective what we generate is trust and hope”.

Ignacio Irarrázaval, director of the UC Public Policy Center and member of CLEAR LAC’s board of directors, emphasized: “Even though we are non-profit organizations, we want to build the public good and collaborate, today society asks us to be accountable. Being able to define objectives and show results systematically is a way to rebuild trust in civil society organizations.

The Luksic Foundation congratulates the students who took part in this third edition and reaffirms its commitment to strengthening monitoring and evaluation, convinced that these tools are engines to generate more trust, more impact and more opportunities to transform lives.
