Luksic Foundation Provides Support to Families Affected by the Rains in Mejillones
In response to the effects of the heavy rains affecting the Antofagasta Region, Luksic Foundation provided cleaning supplies to families in Mejillones.
The Antofagasta Region is one of the areas in northern Chile hardest hit by the heavy rains and remains under a Red Alert due to the intense rainfall recorded in the area, which has caused flooding and forced families to move to shelters. In response to this situation, Luksic Foundation mobilized support for affected households in Mejillones.
On Thursday, August 27, following ongoing monitoring and communication with local authorities, the Foundation delivered boxes containing personal and household cleaning supplies to affected families.
“Mejillones was one of the municipalities hardest hit, although it did not always receive visibility. Today, we are facing very concrete needs, particularly in terms of hygiene and support for older adults. That is why we are deeply grateful to Luksic Foundation for making the effort to reach our neighbors. We share a common purpose: being there when help is needed most,” said Marcelino Segundo Carvajal, Mayor of Mejillones.
For her part, Emilia Benítez, Communications Manager at Luksic Foundation, explained: “At Luksic Foundation, we are committed to supporting Chile, especially in times of emergency. Thanks to our collaboration with the Municipality of Mejillones, today we were able to deliver 100 boxes of cleaning supplies to support families going through a difficult situation following the rains in the Antofagasta Region. We are convinced that by working together, we can help move Chile forward.”
