New platform seeks to strengthen citizen participation in social projects
The Luksic Foundation presented the “Participatory Methodologies” platform, a tool that provides methodologies, lessons learned and success stories for public and private organizations to integrate the voice of the communities in their initiatives. The launch brought together more than 50 representatives from the municipal, academic, social and private sectors.
The Luksic Foundation launched Participatory Methodologies in Action, a new digital platform that seeks to promote citizen participation in social projects and provide public and private organizations with concrete tools to strengthen the voice of communities in defining their own challenges.
The presentation of the platform took place on Tuesday, September 9, and brought together more than 50 representatives from municipalities, public and private organizations, and universities, who reflected on and put into practice the importance of integrating people in the construction of solutions that impact their daily lives.
Macarena Cea, General Manager of Fundación Luksic, said: “The purpose of the Foundation is to promote people so that they can contribute to Chile’s development. We trust those who live in the country and, therefore, we are convinced that social projects must be built with the communities, considering their experience and their voice. With this platform we want to share our practices and make them available to public and private organizations so that people and their communities are the protagonists of their development”.
From the municipal world, the initiative was widely appreciated. The mayor of Pirque and president of the Association of Rural Municipalities, Jaime Escudero, said: “Today I cannot imagine territorial management or planning without citizen participation. We may have very good ideas, but the people in the territory are the ones who really know what they want and what they need”.
Along the same lines, the president of the Chilean Association of Municipalities and mayor of Zapallar, Gustavo Alessandri, said: “We would like to thank the Luksic Foundation for this public-private collaboration, which is by far the most important thing for a country and for development, and above all for citizen participation. Because this way, as an authority, one knows, values and recognizes the thinking and social needs of a community, regardless of the locality, and allows us to move forward together”.
With the tools available on the website, the Luksic Foundation seeks to support the assessment of people’s experience, design solutions with and from the community, and make interventions more effective.
